Why do I need a professional lawn care service?
When you purchase fertilizer and other products at your local lawn and garden center, are you really getting the best product? Do you know exactly when to apply it? And how much to apply? If you answered “no” to any of these questions, you’re not alone. Brookfield Lawn Care & Mowing has access to the very best lawn care products, and can create a customized treatment plan for your lawn to keep it healthy for the entire growing season. Lawns are our specialty, so leave it to the professionals to make your lawn beautiful.
Why is fertilizer important for my lawn?
Fertilizer provides essential nutrients to the soil and roots of your grass that it may not otherwise get enough of. Without these nutrients, your lawn can be left susceptible to weeds, invasive grasses or generally poor health. By making sure your lawn has a proper fertilizing plan, the roots can grow deep and your lawn will be thick and healthy.
Why is weed control important for my lawn?
The weeds want the same things your grass wants: water, nutrients, sun and space. However, many weeds can get to these essential things faster than your grass can. By treating for weeds before they pop up and after they have come in, your grass stands a better chance at growing up healthy. And when your lawn grows thick and full, there is less of a chance of weeds being able to find a place to grow.
How long should children and pets stay off the lawn after a treatment?
After we’ve used any chemical treatments on your lawn, we recommend that children and pets remain off it for 24 hours. This will ensure that every area that has been treated is completely dry.
Why are there dead patches on my lawn?
Dead and brown spots can have any number of causes. Some of the most frequent causes however are grubs or other insects, pet spots, or chemical damage caused by improper fertilization or another source such as salt from winter. Brookfield Lawn Care & Mowing can diagnose why you have these dead patches and come up with a plan to not only grow in healthy grass, but prevent it from happening in the future.
I think I have grubs. What are the signs?
One of the telltale signs of grubs are brown patches in your lawn. If you pull on the green grass at the edge of the brown patch, and the grass pulls up like a rug, then you may have grubs. Sometimes you may even be able to see the grubs in the soil. If this is the case, we can help! Call us for a treatment plan.
Why is my lawn inconsistent?
Every lawn is different, and you may have different environments within your lawn. If one area receives more light than another, or has different soil or different drainage, you may see inconsistencies in the lawn. Your lawn may even have different types of grass growing in it. This does not necessarily mean that your lawn is not healthy, just that each area may have different needs. We can be sure to address the needs of your lawn to maintain its health.
Do I need to water my lawn?
If we are experiencing a sustained dry period, such as 30 days without rain, then yes, you need to water your lawn in order to keep the growing point alive. On average, your lawn would love to have an inch of rain a week, but when nature isn’t up the task, then we recommend long, deep waterings. You should water no more than twice a week to ensure that your grass does not develop any leaf diseases. By water long and infrequently, the roots are encouraged to grow deep, which leads to a thicker, healthier lawn.
